About Bank PDF Converter

Bank PDF Converter turns a bank statement PDF into a clean spreadsheet, or into a file your accounting software can import directly. It is built and maintained by one person, it is free, and it does not ask you to create an account.

Why this tool exists

Anyone who does bookkeeping in India has spent an evening retyping a bank statement. The PDF the bank emails you is designed to be read, not imported: the columns drift between pages, the narration wraps onto two lines, and Debit and Credit collapse into one column the moment you paste it into Excel. Paid converters exist, but they charge per page, ask you to register an account, and upload your statement to a server you know nothing about.

This site was written to remove that evening of retyping. It reads the table out of the PDF, works out which amount is a withdrawal and which is a deposit by checking every row against the running balance, and then hands you either a plain Excel file or a file shaped exactly the way your accounting software's importer expects.

What it actually does

Reads the statement table. Text-based PDFs are parsed directly. Scanned pages and phone photos go through on-device text recognition instead, so they work too.
Verifies the numbers. Each row is checked against the running Balance column. If the balance falls, the amount is a withdrawal; if it rises, it is a deposit. Rows that fail the check are flagged for you instead of being silently guessed.
Exports in 42 formats. Excel and CSV, Tally XML, and the banking standards other software reads natively — OFX, QIF, MT940, CAMT.053 and BAI2 — plus documented column layouts for importers that use a mapping wizard.
Keeps you in control. Ledger suggestions and voucher types are proposed on a review screen. Nothing is written into your export until you accept it.

How your file is handled

Digital PDFs are processed entirely inside your browser — the file never leaves your device. Scanned statements may be sent to a text-recognition service to be read, and are discarded immediately afterwards. There is no account system, no database of statements, and no file storage. Who builds it

Bank PDF Converter is built and maintained by Md Hussain. It is a personal project rather than a company product, which is also why it is free: there is no sales team and no per-page pricing to defend. Running costs are covered by advertising on the site.

An honest limitation

This is a data-entry tool. It reads what is printed on your statement and reshapes it — it does not audit your books, does not classify income for tax purposes, and cannot tell you whether an entry belongs in a particular ledger.
